Initiated in June 2014, The Aditya Birla Integrated School has been dedicated to providing education to students with differentiated learning needs. Each child is special and is bestowed with hidden talents and skills. It has been our motto to inspire potential and help each one of our students hone those skills and bring out the best in them. Highlights of our program are:
Students
with learning difficulties, generally need support for fine &
gross motor movements, sensory integration, and adaptive skills. These are not
only important from a classroom perspective but also help students in carrying
out their daily life activities like buttoning shirts, walking up and down a
staircase, organizing study material, etc.
Besides physical movement, our
students need improvement in communication
skills and speech and language development. Emotional regulation and, the
development of social skills help students conduct themselves in the classroom
and help them to navigate through various social situations that they may come
across at school and home.
To support these needs of our students, Occupational, Speech, and Behaviour Therapy are provided within the school facility. These are woven into the daily schedule of our students and go a long way in supporting classroom goals. Frequent multi-disciplinary meetings with therapists and teaching faculty help get a 360-degree view of the needs of the students and strategies to help them achieve their goals.
In addition to these, we have a Minds
Matter program – a curriculum specially developed to promote
mental health awareness and well-being. This too is a part of the weekly
timetable of a student. Over and above this, our school counsellor provides
support and guidance to our students with individualized sessions while
maintaining confidentiality.
Students have diverse learning styles, and understanding these styles can help curate educational approaches to be more effective. The teaching methodology at TABIS integrates visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic mediums.
⮚ Visual learners benefit from visual aids, images, charts, presentations, and videos used in the classroom.
⮚ Discussions and audio material
help the auditory learners. Follow-up hands-on activities, classroom
experiments, and interactive experiences aid our tactile learners in retaining
and recalling information.
⮚ Field trips, Edu tours, and
guest lectures help to enhance their understanding and connect classroom
learning to the real world. Similarly, experience gained during these sessions
is brought into the classroom due to the exposure received. Each lesson is
carefully designed keeping in mind the needs of our learners.
⮚ TABIS Interact Club is an
initiative under the Rotaract Club of Queens Necklace, Mumbai offered to
students of Grades 9 to 12. Here members take on leadership roles in the club
and organise various events to raise funds. These funds are then used towards a
charitable cause identified at the start of the event. This instills a sense of
responsibility, social awareness, and also skills like cooperation,
collaboration, and networking.
⮚ Observership is a
unique opportunity offered to students of Grade 12. As these students are at
the precipice of stepping out into the real world, giving them a taste of the
corporate world is quite important. In this program, the students spend 2 or 3
days at different corporate offices that undertake activities related to HR,
Digital Marketing, Personal Buying & Managing the shop floor, etc. This not
only gives them a chance to understand the operations of the firm but it helps
them to get a touch-feel of what they would be about to get into in a few
years.
No school calendar is complete
without different
academic and non-academic events. At TABIS, a dedicated Events
Team carefully designs and plans all events of the year to highlight the
different capabilities and talents that our students possess.
⮚ Like any other school, our
school prefects are elected by the teachers & students and are given the
formal responsibility to lead their Houses & the school through the
Investiture Ceremony.
⮚ Language & Math Fests
promote fun-based learning of language and math skills, creative expression,
and logical thinking.
⮚ Project Day displays an array of
project-based learnings undertaken by different grades across the school. It is
theme-based and generally an extension or off-shoot of the Theme of the Year.
⮚ The Library Fest is a showcase
of what the students have learned and read during the year through various
activities and presentation material.
⮚ The Conclave is an academic
event that reflects the academic activities done by the students throughout the
year. The students are given a platform to present their work to their parents
and other colleagues and instil a sense of confidence in them.
⮚ Sports Day is another event
displaying the grit, determination, and true spirit of sportsmanship that our
students possess.
⮚ The most awaited event of the
year is the Annual Camp where students are taken for a 2 or 3-night overnight
trip to different locations to expose them to various activities like
rappelling, camping, rafting, nature walks, wildlife safaris, wild-life conservation
programs, etc. The fringe benefits of such a trip cannot be ignored –
developing social skills, staying independent, taking responsibility for their
belongings, self-grooming, etc.
⮚ The Annual Day is a
culmination of the year gone by. It is a platform given to every student of the
school to showcase his or her talent – be it singing, dancing, or acting. Each
event brings out the best in every student and promotes a sense of healthy competition
and camaraderie among them.
TABIS is not just a school, it is a feeling – a feeling of comfort,
belonging, and acceptance. Every aspect of what is done here is carefully
designed keeping in mind the holistic development of all our students. We aim to develop well-rounded, confident
young – minds that go on and conquer the world in their unique ways.
