Imagine an education system that bends to fit the child, rather than forcing the child to fit the system. In today’s dynamic educational landscape, one size doesn’t fit all. While some students thrive in traditional classrooms, others need more time and support. This is especially true for children with learning differences.
At The Aditya Birla Integrated School (TABIS), we believe every learner deserves a chance to succeed in a way that works for them. This is why we offer the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) as a meaningful, inclusive, and empowering alternative pathway.
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an autonomous organization under India’s Ministry of Education. It offers open and distance learning at the secondary (Class 10) and senior secondary (Class 12) levels. NIOS also provides a range of vocational and life skills courses.
NIOS certificates are fully recognized and are considered equivalent to those from CBSE, ICSE, and state boards. Students can pursue higher education, appear for competitive exams, and apply for government or private jobs after completing NIOS.
Many children with learning differences, such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia, need more flexibility and a stress-free environment. NIOS provides a unique opportunity to customize their learning journey and build confidence.
Students can select subjects that match their strengths and interests. They are assessed on their best five subjects. For example, students who find mathematics challenging can skip it and still earn a valid certificate. This choice is not available in most other boards.
NIOS allows students to appear for exams when they feel ready. Exams are held twice a year, in April and May, and in October and November. Students have up to five years to complete their courses. This reduces exam stress and gives them time to prepare well.
Large classrooms and rigid schedules can feel overwhelming for many children. NIOS allows students to study at home or in a quiet, supportive environment. This helps them focus better and learn without anxiety.
With a wide range of subjects across the humanities, sciences, and vocational fields, NIOS empowers students to build a learning plan based on their interests and career goals. They can focus on what they enjoy and excel in.
NIOS supports children with learning differences, students returning to education after a break, and those pursuing sports or arts. It truly makes education open and inclusive for all learners.
NIOS offers vocational courses that help students gain practical skills. These courses prepare them for real-world challenges and improve their future job prospects.
Certificates from NIOS are recognized by universities, colleges, and employers across India and abroad. Students can pursue higher education and take part in competitive exams after NIOS, just like students from other boards.
NIOS allows students to learn at their own pace. They can spend more time on topics they find difficult and move faster through areas they understand well. This makes learning more meaningful and less stressful.
At TABIS, we understand that every child is unique. Alongside NIOS, we provide a range of supports to help each learner succeed.
We have a dedicated team of occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, behavior therapists, and counselors. They work together to support each child’s emotional, social, and developmental growth.
Students receive personalized academic mentoring. This helps them build strong foundations and learn at their own pace. Our focus is on understanding rather than rote learning.
We encourage students to explore sports, art, music, and many other activities. This builds confidence, teamwork skills, and a love for learning beyond academics.
At TABIS, we create a warm and inclusive atmosphere. Every child feels valued and respected. This helps them grow into confident and independent individuals.
NIOS is a strong option for:
We believe education should adapt to each child, not the other way around. Through NIOS, we empower students to learn at their own pace, explore their passions, and build the confidence to step into the world as independent, capable, and compassionate individuals. We have seen firsthand how this flexibility allows students to focus on their strengths while building confidence in their abilities. NIOS proves that when we meet students where they are, extraordinary growth becomes possible.
