5 ways for students to stay productive during the summer break
Summer vacation is the most awaited time in students' lives; a time when
the heavy load of exams is over and the school's out. Every year, students
eagerly await this break with the hope of doing something worthwhile to
liberate them from the monotony of school and studies.
Two months' break from classes and assignment deadlines may sound like
heaven, but all that free time can be counter-productive. The summer break
is not just meant for sleeping, watching television, playing video games,
    or chilling with friends.
This time can be perfectly suited to create a unique summer to-do list to
boost areas requiring attention, learn new life skills, or find a new
    hobby.
Let's look at the top 5 ways to be productive during this summer break.
    -

Develop the habit of reading- The summer break gives students ample
free time to develop the habit of reading books and newspapers.
Reading helps students to develop intellectually, culturally, and
emotionally. It also helps them improve their language, vocabulary
skills, and imagination. It also exposes them to new ideas and
            concepts.

Engage in sports and outdoor activities- Physical outdoor
activities help students build strength, focus, gross motor skills,
self-esteem, and endurance. It also allows them to develop social
skills and learn to work together with their friends. Another
undeniable element of outdoor play is the appreciation for nature.
Feeling connected to nature promotes holistic, creative, and
innovative thinking. When encountered with a challenge, even as
simple as climbing a rock, it doesn't just prompt them to overcome
the problem. It makes them understand the environment and how it
works. This is key to helping students understand the importance of
protecting nature. Examples of outdoor activities include adventure
racing, backpacking, cycling, swimming, camping, canoeing, fishing,
hiking, skiing, surfing, and different types of sports.

Pick up a hobby- Students never really know what they are capable
of unless they try something. They may surprise themselves. It
helps them discover what they are good at (and need to practice),
and might surprise them. Hobbies are the perfect 'get away' from
the hustle and bustle of daily life. They help them focus and
concentrate better and develop their reasoning, analytical, and
problem-solving skills. Some common hobbies include cooking,
gardening, painting or drawing, calligraphy, photography,
playwriting, playing a musical instrument, singing, etc. A
different hobby may be taken up for each break during the academic
year. Students will be surprised to know how talented they are!

-

Hone your academic skills- Students must use some time during their
holidays to get ahead of their studies. Since the brain is a
muscle, and like all muscles, it loses strength when it is not
used. So, students must continue exercising their brains during the
holidays so that they can run at full capacity when school starts
again. It is an excellent time for them to catch up and get ahead.
Summer break gives them 7-8 weeks to fill in missing knowledge gaps
and prepare themselves for the new academic year. Practicing
mathematical computations, English language skills, inferential and
application skill questions, and brainteaser games could be among a
few of the activities that could be included in their summer break
            to-do list.

Learn life skills- The term 'Life Skills' refers to the skills
needed to make the most out of life. Any skill that is useful in
life can be considered a life skill. Students are hardly involved
with helping with household chores or learning a new life skill
during school days. Therefore, the summer break is an excellent
time to learn and get involved in basic life skills. This will help
students feel important, helpful, and also responsible. Helping
with household chores like grocery shopping, tidying up their room,
cleaning the table after meals, folding the laundry, watering the
plants, going to the bank, and organizing toys are a few activities
that could significantly impact their future.

Summer break is a fun learning period if it is utilized in the right way.
Learning is not just educational and subject driven also about learning
skills that can be useful for them in the near future. They provide the
ideal opportunity for developing a realistic plan and following it. In this
way, students can have a meaningful, productive, and fun-filled summer
    break holiday!
