Children are our greatest teachers. From them, we learn some of life’s greatest lessons of patience, curiosity, kindness, resilience, fearlessness, and unconditional love. A good collector knows that it takes variety to make a good collection. The same goes for people. Each child is different – having their own unique personalities and identities, temperaments, learning styles, and speed. It is this distinct character that they carry with themselves through all their learnings and life experiences. We, as caregivers, educators, and parents, must learn not only to appreciate this but also to celebrate it.
“Inspiring Potential” is not only the motto at TABIS but also something we all live by. We strongly believe that if we make the world better for our kids, we will be making it better for everyone. Every child has something to offer to the world, and to others, and we as teachers are fortunate to receive “these gifts” from each of our students. From the moment a child comes under our care, it is the constant endeavour of the team to ensure that they feel safe and happy. We do believe that a child’s true potential can only be unravelled when they are comfortable and happy.
The program at TABIS is structured in a way that allows both, the students and the teachers to discover their innate talents. We aim at providing a sea full of rich experiences for students to explore. Experiential learning, field trips, industrial visits, sessions with guest lecturers, etc. are carefully incorporated into our lesson plans. The curriculum is designed to tap logical thinking, creativity, imagination, memory, reasoning, and research. The lessons are carefully planned in - keeping different learning styles – auditory, visual as well as kinaesthetic. Each child’s needs are met via different mediums.
Integration is woven into the fabric of our curriculum. The day is carefully planned to balance academics, co-curricular activities, and therapies. Each one is aimed at different aspects in order to mould the child holistically. While chess helps students to enhance their logical thinking, reasoning, strategizing, and problem-solving, activities like painting and music provide a creative outlet for students to showcase their interests, talents, and skills. The drama class also serves as a platform for self-expression, imagination as well as generates empathy, as students step into the shoes of different characters.
We at TABIS are certain that each one has some gift; they may open them at different times. So, a variety of events are planned throughout the year. These events are diverse and tap different potentials of our students. It also helps them to showcase the skills that they have been honing during the course of the year in their academic and co-curricular classes.
Language Fest and Math Fest help students to showcase their abilities in these 2 areas. Our Annual Inter–House Chess Competition and Sports Day bring out the best of athletes and also create an atmosphere of healthy competition. Our Annual Day is truly unique as each and every student of the school performs on stage. The acts are designed keeping in mind the strengths and talents of our students and the results are mesmerizing. Parents and teachers are overwhelmed to see the children dance, act, or sing their hearts out.
It is so important to create these windows of opportunities, without judgments and prejudices , and direct the students toward them. Each child is unique and has something to offer to this world. All, we as adults need to do is believe in them!
